Summer time.

Spent the day in Sandpoint by the beach with Natalie. Hot summer days bring beautiful summer lighting. iPhone's got summer photo lighting dialed as well. Check this edit, straight from CameraBag (iPhone app)

Weekend winding down and the week about to start up. Slammed busy, but watch for more posts. Thanks to all who followed the weeklong photo project. Having more time dedicated to photos has definitely sparked some new creativity. Just as planned.

Day of Independence (and Day 7)

Definitely had a sweet 4th. Friend of a friend invited us out to a party out on Lake Pend Oreille, who made some arrangements to have one of the most legit fireworks displays in the area. Huge barge with some big money invested in pyrotechnics.

Friday (Day 6)

Went out to Ben's house for a day on the lake. Had to pull a few logs downwind so the girls chose to go log-riding.

Can't beat a day out on the lake. BBQ and burgers to follow. Yum.

Thursday (Day 5)

Realized tonight that I really haven't shot my car with any sort of creative photographic intention. Tonight I did.

Photo Project

It's still in the works, but here's a teaser. I won't tell you what it's about, or what it's for. Yet. Just wait for the finished product.

Car-podding

Setting up a stable tripod in the back of the car has potential. Vehicle ideas are fun, and the possibilities are coming to me. Stay tuned; for now, check this out. It's rough but try to imagine potential. The possibilities are going crazy in my head.

Photo(s)-A-Day Project

Today marks my Photo-A-Day blog project beginning. I'm behind the camera a lot more lately, so I'm gonna try this project out.

Wakeboarding today, Shea snapped his deck landing heavy on a scarecrow. Take a look.

Rough week.

Last weekend I headed over to Seattle to see my dad for Father's Day. First solo trip in a while, and although different, I kinda liked it; I had a lot of thinking time to myself.

Recently I came across an app for iPhone called DSLR Remote. Much like iPhone's Remote app for iTunes, the DSLR Remote is a wireless shutter button. Check out their website for more info. Basically you hook up your camera to your computer via USB cable and establish a network from your computer. Connect your iPhone (or iPod touch) to the network and open the app. You can manage all of your camera settings including shutter speed, ISO, aperture, exporting, etc.

On the way back from Seattle, I set up the tripod in the back seat of my car and tethered the camera to my laptop in the front seat. Just like that, I was snapping shots with a preview sent right to my phone. Here's what turned out.


Sunday (Father's Day) had an ending nobody saw coming. We lost one of our friends, a member of our family, Hunter Graham (story here). We're heading to his memorial service now. We will miss you dearly Hunter. Prayers and tears today.

It's been too long.

So it has been more than two months since my last post, but now that I have steady internet and I'm all settled, I'll be posting more.

We went over to the Beta house (Dan and Nate's frat) and smoked some hookah (its only tobacco folks). Grabbed this shot of Nikhil blowing a ring. Leave for home tomorrow. Surprise in store for the flight blog home.

Stomped it out.

This weekend I was up shooting the Stomp Games, an event up at Schweitzer hosting a rail jam, a slopestyle event, and a ridercross event. Saturday's weather put a damper on the riders' ability to throw down, thus making it a little difficult to get shots. The rail jam on Friday was another story. Crazy disaster cork 5's and disaster rodeo 3's were goin' down, making it a sick show.

After the slopestyle Saturday, we went to Luke's condo for a bit, where I grabbed this one of Jasper.

I got to hike the entire slopestyle course Sunday; lucky me. I did manage to post up at the cannon-box to get a good angle on Evan's run.


Drove down Sunday night to Salt Lake City with the Maus brothers, and I'll be home Thursday. Look for pics in the next few days.

Shock Therapy

Last night Nik and I got to shoot the Spokane Shock's first preseason game. We're doing a story on a Shock dancer that attends NIC, so we were able to get field-side to get in on the action. Dan Couillard (Blog) (MySpace) let me borrow his 40D and 16-35 so I could be strapped with a wide body and a tele body (Thanks again Dan). My new 17-35 didn't get to get used last night, but in good time.

On the 14th day, he rose again.

Not comparing myself to God with the blog title, but I'm finally at about 95% recovered from probably the most miserable sickness I've come across. Mix congestion, sore throat, nausea and all-over body aches together and multiply it by thirty, and you'll be somewhere near the point I was at. Anyway, enough complaining. Yesterday, I picked up the Sigma 17-35 f/2.8-4.

NIC also hosted both the men's and women's NJCAA Region 18 Basketball Tournament. The Cardinal men didn't make it to the championship, unfortunately, but it was a great run. Nik and I covered the entire weekend, and here's a shot I got of the NIC bench in the final minutes of their loss against Eastern Utah.


On the other hand, the Lady Cards' proved victorious, and won the Region 18 tournament. It was truely a nail biting game, and the girls came back from a 19 point defecit to beat CSI. Fortunately, I got a shot worthy of Jake's front-page dominant photo mindset. (Long story inside the news room.)


This issue was the one taken to NYC for the college media convention. I just got off the phone with Scott Fink, our news editor, and was informed that we took Best in Show (1st Place) for 2-year papers.

Although I haven't posted in the last two weeks, I have been doing a ton of work with photos. I took some product shots for Local 77, and here's a little series I put together for the DC Siloh Boot.


Anyway, big stuff going on this week. Surprises are fun though, so I won't tell you exactly what's in store. Stay tuned to the blog and you'll find out soon enough.
